GAC Education is recruiting Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) to lead whole-class lessons, deliver PPA cover, and provide targeted interventions across Hull and the East Riding. The role supports pupils with a range of needs, including EHCPs, in varied settings from primary to secondary and SEN environments.

The successful candidate will hold HLTA status or substantial UK school experience, with strong classroom management and an up-to-date DBS.

Qualifications

  • Recognised HLTA Status (or substantial, verifiable experience leading whole-class teaching and structured interventions in UK schools).
  • Strong classroom management skills and experience supporting pupils with diverse learning needs (including ASC, SEMH, and ADHD).
  • An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willing to complete a new check on onboarding).
  • Thorough safeguarding knowledge with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) familiarity.
  • Adaptable and proactive with the confidence to manage different year groups and settings seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering whole-class lessons and PPA cover in line with the national curriculum and provision maps.
  • Leading 1:1 and small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation.
  • Applying positive behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches across diverse classrooms.
  • Assessing student progress, recording outcomes, and providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
  • Upholding safeguarding compliance and school child protection policies.

Pay Rate: £105 – £125 per day

Are you a status-qualified or highly experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for rewarding classroom leadership opportunities across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire?

GAC Education is recruiting dedicated HLTAs to deliver whole-class cover, PPA release, and targeted academic interventions across mainstream primary schools, secondary academies, resourced bases, and specialist SEN settings throughout Hull (including HU1–HU9, Cottingham, and Hessle).

Whether you excel at leading full primary classes, managing dynamic secondary environments, or delivering tailored nurture interventions for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), we offer flexible block placements and ongoing long-term roles to suit your career goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering whole-class lessons and PPA cover in accordance with national curriculum expectations and adapted provision maps.
  • Leading targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation for pupils with EHCPs.
  • Implementing positive behaviour support strategies, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed practices across diverse classroom environments.
  • Assessing student progress, recording outcomes, and providing constructive feedback to class teachers and SENCOs.
  • Upholding robust safeguarding standards in strict compliance with school child protection policies.
Candidate Requirements
  • Recognised HLTA Status (or substantial, verifiable experience leading whole-class teaching and structured interventions in UK schools).
  • Strong classroom management skills and experience supporting pupils with diverse learning needs (including ASC, SEMH, and ADHD).
  • An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check during onboarding).
  • Thorough practical understanding of statutory safeguarding principles and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with the confidence to manage different year groups and educational settings seamlessly.
