Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a SEN HLTA to support learning for pupils with additional needs in schools across West Yorkshire. You will deliver targeted interventions, work with teachers and the SENCO, and help develop individual plans to support EHCP outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 English and maths (GCSE grade 4/C or Functional Skills).
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • DBS check mandatory (assistance available)

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality learning and pastoral support to pupils with diverse needs.
  • Lead and deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions.
  • Support pupils with autism, ADHD, communication and SEMH needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to implement support strategies.
  • Contribute to development and review of individual support plans and EHCP outcomes.
  • Monitor pupils' progress and give clear feedback to staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, confidence and independence.
  • Adapt activities and resources so pupils can participate and progress.
  • Support pupils during lessons, breaks and transitions.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessment.
  • Take responsibility for a class or group for planned activities.
  • Promote safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations.

Job description

Job Role: SEN HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

Help children to access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential. Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, support staff, families and external professionals to provide high-quality, personalised support. The role will involve leading small-group and individual interventions, supporting learning in the classroom and, where appropriate, delivering planned lessons or activities in the absence of the class teacher.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide high-quality learning and pastoral support to pupils with a range of additional needs.

  • Lead and deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions in line with pupils' individual needs and support plans.

  • Support pupils with needs including autism, ADHD, communication and interaction difficulties, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to implement effective support strategies.

  • Contribute to the development and review of individual support plans and EHCP outcomes where appropriate.

  • Monitor pupils' progress and provide clear feedback to teaching staff.

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional well-being, confidence and independence.

  • Adapt learning activities and resources to ensure pupils can participate and make progress.

  • Support pupils during lessons, break times, transitions and other aspects of the school day as required.

  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents/carers and colleagues.

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessment and monitoring.

  • Take responsibility for a class or group for planned activities, where required, in accordance with school policies.

  • Promote safeguarding, inclusion, equality and high expectations for all pupils


Requirements


  • Level 2 English and maths (GCSE grade 4/C or Functional Skills).

  • Prior experience in Teaching Assistant Role or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory. (We can help advise on this)
