Beechcroft St Paul's CofE Primary School in Weymouth is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a sports focus to support afternoon sessions and lead a sports activity after school. The role includes lunchtime duties, PPA cover, and promoting active learning among pupils.

The ideal candidate will hold an HLTA qualification or equivalent experience, be confident managing a class, and bring enthusiasm for sport or coaching to enrich school life and wellbeing.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 12.00pm to 4.15pm (21.25 hours per week)
Contract: Term time only, plus INSET days
Contract Type: Fixed Term, November 2026 to 31st August 2027

We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and positive Higher Level TeachingAssistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and supportive school team.

This is a varied and rewarding role, working across five afternoons each week. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with an interest, experienceor qualification in sport and physical activity, as an important part of the role will be encouraging pupils to be active and delivering an after-school sporting activity or club.

The role will include:

• Supporting the smooth running of lunchtimes, including lunchtime duty and encouraging positive and active play
• Providing PPA cover for classes and delivering planned learning activities
• Supporting pupils' learning, engagement and wellbeing
• Leading an after-school sports activity or club
• Promoting physical activity, teamwork, confidence and healthy lifestyles
• Working collaboratively with teachers and other members of the school team
• Helping to create a safe, positive and inclusive environment for all pupils

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds an appropriate HLTA qualification/status, or has relevant experience at this level
• Is confident managing and leading a class

• Is organised, reliable, flexible and able to use their own initiative
• Enjoys being an active and enthusiastic member of a school community
