Job summary

Endon High School is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to lead the MAP Room, collaborating with the SEND team to support pupils, families and staff. The role focuses on managing daily MAP Room operations, assisting teachers with catch-up work, and coordinating reintegration into regular lessons.

You will work under supervision within the SEND and Inclusion team, monitoring pupil progress and reporting outcomes, contributing to the school’s high standards and inclusive ethos.

Job description

We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to manage the day-to-day running of the MAP Room and to work closely with pupils, families, and colleagues across the school to give every pupil who uses the room the best possible chance of a positive outcome.

The post holder will take the lead in running the MAP Room, working under the direction of the Assistant SENCO and the wider SEND and Inclusion team. The role has three core strands:

  • MAP Room management - overseeing the day-to-day operation of the room, including pupil timetabling, resources, record-keeping, and liaison with pastoral and subject staff.
  • Curriculum catch-up - supporting pupils to keep up with, or catch up on, missed curriculum content while they are accessing the MAP Room, working closely with subject teachers to identify and deliver appropriate work.
  • Reintegration support - working with pupils, families and pastoral leaders to plan and deliver successful, well-paced reintegration back into mainstream lessons, including attending reintegration meetings where required.

The post holder will support the work of qualified teachers and, under an agreed system of supervision, will have responsibility for agreed learning activities, including monitoring, recording and reporting on pupil progress. He/she will operate with a high level of delegated authority under an agreed system of supervision, and will be an integral part of the wider SEND and Inclusion team.

Actual Salary: £26,170-£29,374

Working Hours: 37 hours per week (8am - 4pm), Term Time only + 5 Days INSET
