Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (CALU) for a Welsh-medium secondary school in Newport, Gwent. You will support language development in an immersion centre and contribute to high expectations in a bilingual learning environment.

Role is Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with competitive salary, ongoing professional development, and a supportive school community. DBS checks and driving licence may be required for certain duties.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent is required.
• Experience in an educational setting, preferably aiding language development or literacy.
• Mandatory Enhanced DBS check and a full UK driving licence if required.

Responsibilities

• Supporting language development of learners within the immersion centre.
• Implementing literacy intervention plans to enhance reading and writing skills.
• Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and providing tailored support.
• Contributing to a positive, respectful learning environment with high expectations.
