Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an HLTA to support pupils in a dedicated SEND Base within the primary phase. You will provide high-quality 1:1 and small‑group support for children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH, delivering targeted interventions to foster learning and progression.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and support team, taking responsibility for learning activities and promoting independence, confidence and engagement in learning in a supportive school

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Experience working as an HLTA or Teaching Assistant.

The Role:

• Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication and learning difficulties
• Delivering targeted interventions and personalised learning activities
• Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and social development
• Adapting activities and learning resources to meet individual needs
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support team
• Taking responsibility for learning activities and supporting classroom delivery in an HLTA capacity
• Promoting independence, confidence and engagement in learning

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience working as an HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant
• Strong experience supporting children with SEND
• Confident working within a SEND Base, specialist provision or mainstream setting with high SEND needs
• Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs and learning difficulties
• Calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional regulation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils
• Relevant HLTA, Level 3 or equivalent qualification is desirable
