Job summary

Canon Sharples CE Primary School and Nursery in Wigan invites applications for a temporary Higher Level Teaching Assistant. The role is 30 hours per week, term time (38 weeks per year), Grade 6 salary £20,643 - £22,780 per annum, temporary until the current academic year 26/27.

The successful candidate will support teachers, lead small-group interventions, monitor pupil progress, and promote the school’s Christian ethos. Flexibility and SEND support are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting primary pupils in a classroom setting.
• Ability to work across the school and build relationships with parents and professionals.
• Ability to adapt teaching to support all learners including those with SEND.
• Flexibility to cover PPA time and whole-class learning during absences.

Responsibilities

• Complement the professional work of teachers, including planning and teaching whole class lessons.
• Take responsibility for whole class teaching and learning during planned absences (PPA).
• Lead daily small-group interventions.
• Monitor, assess, record and report pupils’ achievement, progress and development.
• Promote the good behaviour of all pupils.
• Assist with supervision of pupils outside lesson times.
• Promote the Christian ethos of the school.
• Adapt teaching methods to support learners including those with SEND.
• Flexibility is essential.

The Governing Body of Canon Sharples CE Primary School and Nursery invite applications for the position of a temporary Higher Level Teaching Assistant.

The successful candidate will be able to work across school and be pro-active, enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated. An ability to build successful relationships with parents, pupils and all professionals is essential.

The main duties of the post are:

• To compliment the professional work of teachers, including the planning of the class and teaching whole class lessons.
• Take responsibility for whole class teaching and learning during planned absences, such as PPA (Planning, preparation and assessment) time.
• To lead daily small-group interventions.
• To monitor, assess, record and report pupils’ achievement, progress and development.
• To promote the good behaviour of all pupils.
• To assist with the supervision of pupils outside of lesson times.
• To promote the Christian vision and ethos of our school.
• To adapt teaching methods and planning in the classroom to support all learners including those with SEND.
• Flexibility is essential.
