Job summary

Destination Education is seeking HLTA roles across Walthamstow and the surrounding areas. We are collaborating with welcoming primary schools, offering a range of longer-term and cover positions for experienced HLTAs ready to take on greater classroom responsibilities.

As an HLTA you will support pupils across EYFS to KS2, lead lessons when required, and work closely with teachers to plan, assess and manage behaviour.

Qualifications

  • Has HLTA status or relevant experience in a primary school.
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • Confident leading lessons and managing a classroom independently.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Reliable, adaptable and capable across year groups.
  • Passion for supporting children's learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Support learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Lead classes and deliver lessons when required.
  • Provide targeted support to individuals and groups.
  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work with class teachers and school team.
  • Help maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement.
  • Assist with planning, preparation, assessment, and organisation.

HLTA – Primary School Location: Walthamstow & Surrounding Areas

Looking for your next opportunity as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant? Destination Education is currently working with a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Walthamstow and the surrounding areas, and we are expecting a variety of exciting HLTA positions to become available.

These opportunities are ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants and HLTAs who are ready to take on greater responsibility within the classroom. You will have the opportunity to support pupils across different year groups, work alongside class teachers, and take responsibility for delivering learning when required.

We are expecting opportunities across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, with both longer-term and Cover/part time positions available. For the right candidate, these roles can be a fantastic opportunity to develop your experience and progress further within education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Lead classes and deliver lessons when required.
  • Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups of pupils.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment.
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Has HLTA status or relevant experience working at a higher level within a primary school.
  • Has strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • Is confident leading lessons and managing a classroom independently.
  • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Is reliable, adaptable, and confident working across different year groups.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
