Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Bristol

Contract Type: Full-time | Term Time Only

Monarch Education is working with a partner Secondary school in Bristol that supports pupils aged 11-16, who are in need of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils in classes. The ideal person would also have SEND experience and be Team Teach (TT) trained. The school is known for its warm, structured environment and its commitment to helping every student reach their full potential-academically, socially, and emotionally.

We’re looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who genuinely wants to make a difference. If you’re patient, calm under pressure, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, this could be the perfect role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Supporting students within a vibrant and dynamic secondary school classroom, helping them stay engaged and focused.
  • Working one-to-one or in small groups to deliver tailored learning and emotional support.
  • Helping with sensory activities and structured routines.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson prep and classroom organisation.
  • Encouraging independence and celebrating small wins every day.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Someone who’s caring, reliable, and not afraid to get stuck in.
  • Good communication skills and a team-player attitude.
  • Relevant training in Team Teach and Behaviour Management
