Job summary

Bourne Education Trust is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for the Southcote Centre at Epsom and Ewell High School in Surrey. The HLTA will provide targeted provision and care to pupils under teachers and senior leaders to raise achievement and foster independent learning.

This role involves working 35 hours per week during term time (permanent). Salary is listed as FTE £31,658 or actual £25,121 for 35 hours/37 weeks, with opportunities for professional development and safeguarding

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) and HLTA qualification, or willingness to undertake qualification.
  • Awareness, understanding and commitment to safeguarding of children.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team, under the direction of the responsible Teacher, supporting teaching provision, development and implementation of learning for pupils.
  • Under the guidance of the responsible Teacher, facilitate the learning of individual pupils and groups, setting high expectations and promoting positive attitudes to learning.
  • Prepare, plan and deliver specific intervention programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil response and need.

Job description

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at the Southcote Centre (part of Philip Southcote School), based at Epsom and Ewell High School, within the Bourne Education Trust.

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) is responsible for providing highly effective, targeted provision and care to pupils, under the guidance of Teachers and Senior Leaders, in order to raise standards of achievement for pupils to become independent learners.

  • Philip Southcote Satellite Centres – Our centres are based within mainstream secondary schools: Chertsey High School, Chertsey; Epsom and Ewell High School; and Kings International School, Camberley.

  • Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Southcote Centre, Epsom and Ewell High School, Ruxley Lane, West Ewell, Ewell, Surrey
  • Contract: Term time, permanent
  • Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00‑15:30, 37 weeks per year
  • Salary: FTE £31,658 / Actual £25,121 (35 hrs / 37 weeks)
