Job summary

Wray Common Primary School is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team 4 days a week, delivering lessons in the absence of a teacher and supporting pupils both in groups and individually. You will contribute to literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum learning, with a focus on safeguarding and inclusive practice.

The role requires GCSEs (incl English & Math), First Aid training, and a proactive, calm, adaptable approach.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
  • First Aid training or willingness to undertake training.
  • Experience in working with children or in a school setting.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, SEND and curriculum.
  • Confident using ICT to support teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons to whole classes during planned and unplanned teacher absence.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate learning activities for individuals, groups, and classes.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide clear feedback.
  • Support literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum learning.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to diverse learning needs including SEND.
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement and emotional resilience.
  • Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents and carers.
