Job description

We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Maintenance Delivery Manager to be based either at our Oxford, Maple Lodge, Basingstoke or Hampton Treatment Works, depending on your location.

As the successful candidate, you will lead a team of Electrical Engineers/Senior Authorised Persons, providing operation, maintenance, and fault-finding activities on high voltage and primary low voltage systems. This includes overall responsibility to ensure the proper installation, construction, commissioning, and handover of significant electrical assets, in accordance with TWUL asset standards.

Thames Water operates a substantial network of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical power systems, which are vital to water production and waste treatment for our 16 million customers.

Maintaining the safe and reliable operation of these assets requires extensive knowledge of electrical technology, safety procedures, and providing expert support to operational teams. The teams involved in frontline operation and maintenance need ongoing technical support for maintenance, fault investigation, asset upgrades, and incident analysis.

This role demands regular engagement with stakeholders from Operations, Engineering, Capital Delivery, and Health Safety and Wellbeing functions.

What you’ll be doing as the High Voltage Maintenance Delivery Manager
  • Managing planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Updating records and producing reports on maintenance work.
  • Engaging with contractors to maintain safety and efficiency standards.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to align team activities with business needs.
  • Supporting asset upgrade schemes and capital projects.
  • Leading fault investigations and safety incident reports.
  • Maintaining out-of-hours support coverage.
  • Providing technical leadership for plant issues and reliability improvements.
  • Leading technical support for asset surveys and risk management.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members towards qualification as Authorised Persons.
  • Monitoring contractor performance and safety procedures.
  • Participating in safety audits, briefings, and maintaining safety engagement.

Base Location: Oxford STW, Maple Lodge STW, Basingstoke STW, or Hampton WTW

Working hours: 36 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with out-of-hours support rota for additional pay.

What you should bring to the role
  • Degree or HNC in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Formal training in BS7671 electrical requirements.
  • Senior Authorised Person appointment.
  • Significant experience in electrical engineering within utility or water sectors.
  • Knowledge of health and safety and electrical safety regulations.
  • Operational experience as a Senior Authorised Person.
  • Experience engaging with operational teams, contractors, and third parties.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Experience in high voltage electrical maintenance.
  • Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations.
