Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) is recruiting a Grade 6 Network Planner for our Hinckley depot. You will design, cost and plan replacements/diversions of the high‑voltage network and work with engineers to deliver projects on time.

Ideal candidates will have relevant City & Guilds qualification, English and Maths GCSE and a full UK driving licence, with strong communication and organisational skills to manage multiple projects and diaries effectively.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at C/Level 4 or above, or Functional Skills Level 2+
• Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 or equivalent
• Full UK driving licence required

Responsibilities

• Design schemes for capital projects and prepare costings
• Replace/divert/reinforce existing electricity network assets on the high‑voltage network
• Prepare plans, schematics, notices, materials schedules and quotations
• Coordinate with Grade 7 Network Planner to meet network requirements
• Determine the what, how and cost for individual projects and approve them
• Visit sites and work from developer plans
• Monitor costs on capital sanctions and comment on variances
