Job summary

Rullion is seeking a Mechanical Fitter based in Manchester to join the overhaul team for the Class 390 Avanti High Speed Trains. You will service, maintain, repair and overhaul rolling stock in line with Vehicle Maintenance Instructions, with safety as a priority.

The role requires a Time Served Apprenticeship or NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance, plus rolling stock experience. On-site duties include HASAW/COSHH compliance, a 4-week shift rotation, and close coordination

Qualifications

Time Served Apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualification.
NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance or equivalent.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Technical and IT skills relevant to mechanical maintenance.
Experience with rolling stock and related systems.
Background in REME or military engineering and aerospace/automotive familiarity.
Candidates from other industries will be considered and trade tested.

Responsibilities

Work as directed by the Overhaul Production Manager and follow safety notices and HASAW.
Complete or assist in overhaul activities to meet Vehicle Maintenance Instructions.
Perform corrective maintenance (Mechanical).
Perform preventative maintenance (Mechanical).
Line of Route audits and general housekeeping / 5S activities.
Operate crane and lifting equipment where trained; mentor others.
