Qualifications

• Experience in groundworks, utilities, excavation and highway maintenance.
• LGV Class 2 Driving Licence and CPC qualification.
• HIAB certificate and full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of safe digging practices and underground utilities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• NRSWA, CSCS, TM12D qualifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate LGV Class 2 vehicles and HIAB lifting equipment.
• Assist with the installation of street lighting columns and roadside infrastructure.
• Excavate pits and trenches for installations.
• Set up and maintain traffic management.
• Load/unload materials safely and complete paperwork.
• Follow NY Highways health and safety standards.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Summary

NY Highways is seeking skilled HIAB Driver / Electrician Assistants to aid in the installation and upkeep of street lighting, signage, and highway infrastructure throughout North Yorkshire. This role offers a diverse range of activities, including driving, excavation, groundworks, traffic management, and supporting electricians with street lighting installations. While driving is a component of the job, the primary focus is on manual excavation and groundworks, making it perfect for those who thrive in outdoor environments and enjoy teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Operate LGV Class 2 vehicles and HIAB lifting equipment.
• Support the installation of street lighting columns and roadside infrastructure.
• Excavate pits and trenches for lighting installations and connection points.
• Tarmac
• Flags
• Block paving
• Assist electricians with both underground and above-ground installations.
• Establish and maintain traffic management setups.
• Conduct dynamic site risk assessments and modify work activities as needed.
• Safely load and unload materials, equipment, and machinery.
• Accurately complete paperwork and electronic records.
• Adhere to NY Highways policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
