Job summary

NY Highways is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver / Electrician Assistant to support street lighting and signage works across North Yorkshire. The role is hands-on outdoors, with most work involving excavation and groundworks rather than driving.

You will groundworks, install lighting assets, operate HIAB equipment, assist electricians with underground tasks and help set up traffic management while maintaining safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• Full HGV/LGV Class 2 licence plus valid CPC.
• Experience in groundworks, utilities or excavation.
• Knowledge of safe digging and underground services.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
• Strong safety awareness.

• Groundworks, excavation, reinstatement, tarmac and paving.
• Install lighting columns and roadside assets.
• Operate Class 2 LGVs and HIAB equipment.

Client: NY Highways

We're looking for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver with a valid CPC to join a highways team supporting street lighting and signage works across North Yorkshire.

This is a hands‑on outdoor role, with the majority of the work involving excavation and groundworks rather than driving.

• Operate Class 2 LGVs and HIAB equipment
• Support electricians with basic underground and above-ground tasks
• Set up traffic management and maintain safe working practices
