Job summary

Newrest in Manchester is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 driver to transport catering trolleys, meals and equipment to aircraft stands and airport terminals. You will perform pre-trip inspections, load and unload cargo, and ensure security checks and documentation are completed.

The role requires the ability to work a rotating shift pattern, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, with a focus on safety, efficiency and customer service.

Qualifications

• Valid UK HGV Class 2 licence (Category C).
• Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
• Digital Tachograph card required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report issues.
• Drive HGV2 to transport catering to aircraft stands and terminals.
• Load/unload catering and maintain safe procedures.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and hygiene of loading areas.
• Carry out minor vehicle maintenance tasks.

Job description

All offers are subject to successful security clearance, including a full 5-year employment and DBS background check.

As an HGV Class 2 Driver you will play a vital role in ensuring aircraft are fully catered and ready for departure and help to ensure a seamless experience for airline customers and passengers.

Shifts: Rotating Nine and half hour Shifts, 5 on 3 off

Hours: Start time between: 4.00 and 11.30 & Finish time between 13.30 & 21.00

Rate: £17.27 per hour

Overtime: 1.2 of hourly rate, after the completion of 173 hours each month

Our operation runs seven days a week, so flexibility is essential. You'll work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Depending on airside operational requirements overtime and extended shifts as a key requirement of the role.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections as standard security and safety protocol and report any issues immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle and loading areas.
• Ensure vehicle is security checked and sealed by an authorised staff member before departure with completed specified documentation.
• Drive HGV2 trucks to transport catering trolleys, meals, beverages and equipment to aircraft stands or airport terminals.
• Load aircraft as per the galley plans and adhering to company policy.
• Load and unload catering on and off the truck at the unit and aircraft in a safe and timely manner.
• Minor maintenance of vehicles i.e., top-up screen wash, ad-blue.

Essential Skills And Requirements

• Valid UK HGV Category C (Class 2) licence.
• Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
• Digital Tachograph card.
• Previous experience in airline catering, logistics, or customer service preferred, but not essential.
• A team player who can effectively manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
