Job summary

DKS Commercials Ltd is seeking experienced HGV Truck and Trailer Technicians for our Featherstone garage to service a modern mixed fleet of tractors and trailers. You will diagnose issues, repair components, and perform preventative maintenance to keep vehicles safe and roadworthy.

The role requires City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 and strong mechanical/electrical knowledge of heavy vehicles, with emphasis on diagnostic abilities, record keeping, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 qualification is required.
• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge of heavy vehicles.
• Ability to diagnose issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Proficient in repairing and replacing various truck components.
• Physically capable of handling heavy tools and working in demanding environments.
• Attention to detail for accurate diagnosis, repairs and record keeping.
• Effective communication with customers, colleagues and supervisors.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to procedures.
• Experience with heavy duty vehicles and their maintenance needs.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

We are looking for experienced and skilled HGV Truck and Trailer Technicians at our state of the art garage in Featherstone, to work on our modern mixed fleet of HGV Tractor Units and Trailers as well as selected 3rd party vehicles.

Working as part of the team the successful applicant will be expected to carry out the following duties as part of their day to day responsibilities to keep our fleet safe and roadworthy at all times.

Key Responisibilities:

• Diagnosing issues: Identifying mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Repairing and replacing parts: Fixing or replacing faulty components.
• Performing Maintenance: Conducting routine maintenance including, safety inspections, tyre rotations and brake testing.
• Inspecting Trailers: Thoroughly examining trailers to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintaining Records:Keeping accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed on each trailer.
• MOT Preps:Preparing and presenting trailers for yearly MOT.Collaboration with co-workers to identify and resolve any complex issues.
• Adhering to Safety Protocols:Ensuring a safe working environment by following safety procedures.

Essential Skills and Qualificiations:

• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 Qualificiation
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in heavy vehicles
• Diagnostic and problem solving Skills: Ability to diagnose issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
