Job summary

Dunraven Recruitment Limited is seeking a Senior HGV Mechanic in Newark, Nottingham. You will carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers, ensuring high standards of safety and DVSA compliance.

The role offers a competitive hourly rate, rotating shifts, overtime enhancers and benefits including pension, sick pay and on-site parking. You will work with a team to minimise downtime and keep vehicle fleets on the road.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified HGV Technician with City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or equivalent.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing HGV trucks and trailers in a commercial vehicle environment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Excellent understanding of DVSA regulations and vehicle compliance requirements.
• Own transport essential due to site location.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Complete routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
• Prepare vehicles and trailers for MOT testing and ensure DVSA compliance.
• Conduct safety inspections and identify defects promptly.
• Accurately complete maintenance records and workshop documentation.
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop environment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Adhere to all company health and safety procedures and industry regulations.

Job description

Job Title: Senior HGV Mechanic

Location: Newark, Nottingham

Salary: £24.00 per hour (Days/Afters) or £27.00 per hour (Nights)

Shift Patterns: Days/Afters: Rotating shifts (5:00am 2:00pm / 2:00pm 11:00pm) 45 hours per week Nights: Monday to Friday, 10:00pm 6:00am Average 40 hours per week

HGV Mechanic Benefits:

Competitive hourly rate of £24.00 or £27.00 per hour depending on shift pattern

Overtime paid at time and a quarter after contracted weekly hours

Retention bonus after qualifying period

£10.00 shift allowance for each afternoon shift worked

100% MOT pass rate bonus scheme

Key Senior HGV Mechanic Responsibilities:
