Job summary

DKS Commercials Ltd is seeking experienced HGV Truck and Trailer Technicians for our Featherstone garage to service a modern mixed fleet of tractors and trailers. You will diagnose issues, repair components, and perform preventative maintenance to keep vehicles safe and roadworthy.

The role requires City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 and strong mechanical/electrical knowledge of heavy vehicles, with emphasis on diagnostic abilities, record keeping, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 qualification is required.
• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge of heavy vehicles.
• Ability to diagnose issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Proficient in repairing and replacing various truck components.
• Physically capable of handling heavy tools and working in demanding environments.
• Attention to detail for accurate diagnosis, repairs and record keeping.
• Effective communication with customers, colleagues and supervisors.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to procedures.
• Experience with heavy duty vehicles and their maintenance needs.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Repairing and replacing faulty components.
• Performing routine maintenance including safety inspections, tyre rotations and brake tests.
• Inspecting trailers for potential issues and regulatory compliance.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records.
• MOT prep: preparing trailers for yearly MOT.
• Collaborating with team to resolve complex issues.
• Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a safe workspace.
