Job summary

Volvo Truck and Bus is hiring skilled HGV Technicians in Thetford. Join a team that supports career growth with world-class training and clear development paths across Volvo’s modern fleet.

You will perform servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy vehicles, with emphasis on safety and quality, while mentoring apprentices and contributing to a high-performance workshop.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Experience on HGVs or relevant apprenticeship preferred.
• Willing to train across Volvo’s modern fleet and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Carry out service, maintenance, and repair on Volvo HGVs to high standards.
• Diagnose faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Perform safety inspections, MOT prep, and routine maintenance.

Covering a rotating shift:

Monday to Friday 0600hrs to 1400hrs/1400hrs to 2200hrs

Alternative Saturday morning overtime, time & half

Who are you?

Do you hold a Level 2 or 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and have previous experience working on HGV’s or have you completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry and enjoy getting your hands dirty?

We welcome applications from professionals with experience across heavy vehicle maintenance and repair. If you have previously worked as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician, your skills are highly relevant to this role. We also value transferable expertise from allied industries; candidates with backgrounds as a PSV Technician, PCV Mechanic, Bus and Coach Technician, or a Heavy Plant Mechanic / Plant Technician are strongly encouraged to apply, as full product training on our modern fleet will be provided

What you will be doing?

• Carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on Volvo HGVs to the highest standards.
• Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Perform safety inspections, MOT preparations, and routine maintenance.
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in line with manufacturer standards.
• Wear personal protective equipment when appropriate
• Support the development of young trainees and apprentices
