Job summary

Volvo Trucks in Thetford is seeking skilled HGV Technicians to join our growing team. You will perform service, maintenance and repairs on Volvo HGVs, diagnosing faults with modern equipment and ensuring safety inspections and routine maintenance meet high standards.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Experience on HGVs or apprenticeship in HGV industry preferred.
• Transferable skills from PSV/Bus/Heavy Plant welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on Volvo HGVs to high standards.
• Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Perform safety inspections, MOT preparations, and routine maintenance.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and per manufacturer standards.
• Wear PPE when appropriate and support trainee development.

Who Are You

Do you hold a Level 2 or 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and have previous experience working on HGV’s or have you completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry and enjoy getting your hands dirty?

We welcome applications from professionals with experience across heavy vehicle maintenance and repair. If you have previously worked as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician, your skills are highly relevant to this role. We also value transferable expertise from allied industries; candidates with backgrounds as a PSV Technician, PCV Mechanic, Bus and Coach Technician, or a Heavy Plant Mechanic / Plant Technician are strongly encouraged to apply, as full product training on our modern fleet will be provided

What you will be doing?

• Carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on Volvo HGVs to the highest standards.
• Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Perform safety inspections, MOT preparations, and routine maintenance.
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in line with manufacturer standards.
• Wear personal protective equipment when appropriate
• Support the development of young trainees and apprentices
