Job summary

Volvo Trucks is seeking a hands-on HGV Technician Supervisor to lead our workshop team and ensure high standards of service and safety. The role focuses on coordinating technicians, managing workloads across shifts, and delivering quality repairs for commercial vehicles.

You will work closely with workshop controllers and service staff to maintain a productive, positive environment while upholding Volvo's service standards and customer commitments.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Experience leading a workshop team and coordinating technicians.
• Strong communication skills across shifts and departments.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of HGV Technicians within the workshop.
• Allocate and prioritise work to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on time.
• Oversee servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and company standards.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy before release.
• Diagnose and assist with complex technical issues when required.
• Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency and job progress.
• Liaise with service advisors, transport operators, customers and other departments.
• Support technician training, development and performance.

• Salary up to £24 per hour + productive overtime!
• Working a rotating shift pattern 0600hrs to 1400hrs/1400hrs to 2200hrs

Working closely with the team in order to create high levels of morale and focus to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner and with excellence in quality.

Effective communication with the Workshop Controller and CSR’s to ensure that technicians have valid job specifications and time budget prior to work commencing. Ensuring that customer expectations are managed at all times by working with each stage of the Genuine Volvo Service process.

Who Are You

• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Workshop experience – ideally in trucks/buses – with some supervisory know-how.
• A strong communicator who can get the best out of a team.
• Organised, proactive, and customer-focused.
• Full UK driving licence (HGV licence a big plus)
• To be able to manage and motivate a team of technicians in their daily activities
• To be able to effectively communicate at all levels both written and verbally
• To be able to work in an organised & methodical manner ensuring that all daily tasks are completed
• To be able to delegate work to the appropriate personnelTo be able to operate GDS and Impact systems, specific to the GVS process stages
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
