Volvo Group, via Volvo Trucks, seeks an experienced Technician Supervisor to lead a team of HGV technicians in Wilstead, Bedford. You will allocate work, ensure quality and safety, and work with workshop stakeholders to meet timelines and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Workshop experience with trucks/buses and supervisory exposure.
• Strong communication and team motivation skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of HGV Technicians in the workshop.
• Allocate and prioritise work to ensure timely completion.
• Oversee servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs of HGVs.
• Ensure work meets manufacturer and Volvo standards.
• Maintain health and safety and workshop housekeeping.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure roadworthy release.
• Diagnose and assist with complex technical issues.
• Monitor productivity, efficiency and progress.
• Liaise with service advisors, transport operators, customers.
• Support technician training and performance.
• Ensure paperwork and maintenance records are complete.
• Promote a safe, professional workshop environment.

Job description

Are you an experienced automotive technician with leadership skills, ready to take the next step in your career? Volvo Trucks is seeking a motivated Technician Supervisor to lead our expert team in Wilstead, Bedford. Ready to take a step up in your role? Working closely with the team in order to create high levels of morale and focus to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner and with excellence in quality. Effective communication with the Workshop Controller and CSR's to ensure that technicians have valid job specifications and time budget prior to work commencing. Ensuring that customer expectations are managed at all times by working with each stage of the Genuine Volvo Service process.

• Supervise and support a team of HGV Technicians within the workshop.
• Allocate and prioritise work to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on time.
• Oversee servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and company standards.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy before release.
• Diagnose and assist with complex technical issues when required.
• Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency and job progress.
• Liaise with service advisors, transport operators, customers and other departments.
• Support technician training, development and performance.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork, job cards and maintenance records are completed accurately.
• Promote a positive, professional and safety-focused workshop environment.

Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.

• Workshop experience - ideally in trucks/buses - with some supervisory know-how.
• A strong communicator who can get the best out of a team.
• Organised, proactive, and customer-focused.
• Full UK driving licence (HGV licence a big plus)
• To be able to manage and motivate a team of technicians in their daily activities
• To be able to effectively communicate at all levels both written and verbally
• To be able to work in an organised & methodical manner ensuring that all daily tasks are completed
• To be able to delegate work to the appropriate personnel
• To be able to operate GDS and Impact systems, specific to the GVS process stages
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
