Job summary

AB Volvo is seeking a hands-on HGV Technician Supervisor to lead the workshop team in Enfield. You will supervise technicians, allocate and prioritise workload, and ensure high standards of safety and quality across servicing, maintenance, and inspections.

The role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to motivate a team while delivering results within a fast-paced workshop environment. UK driving licence and willingness to grow skills are essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Experience supervising a workshop or team of technicians.
• Full UK driving licence (HGV licence a big plus).
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to plan, delegate and manage workloads.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of HGV Technicians within the workshop.
• Allocate and prioritise work to ensure jobs completed efficiently and on time.
• Oversee servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and company standards.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy before release.
• Diagnose and assist with complex technical issues when required.
• Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency and job progress.
• Liaise with service advisors, transport operators, customers and other departments.
• Support technician training, development and performance.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork, job cards and maintenance records are completed accurately.
• Promote a positive, professional and safety-focused workshop environment.

Who are you

• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Workshop experience – ideally in trucks/buses – with some supervisory know-how.
• A strong communicator who can get the best out of a team.
• Organised, proactive, and customer-focused.
• Full UK driving licence (HGV licence a big plus)
• To be able to manage and motivate a team of technicians in their daily activities
• To be able to effectively communicate at all levels both written and verbally
• To be able to work in an organised & methodical manner ensuring that all daily tasks are completed
• To be able to delegate work to the appropriate personnel
• To be able to operate GDS and Impact systems, specific to the GVS process stages
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
