Job summary

Consult2Recruit is recruiting an experienced HGV Workshop Technician / Mechanic for night shifts at Weeford. You will service and maintain a fleet of around 90 vehicles and 30 trailers, diagnose faults, prepare vehicles for MOTs, and conduct regular safety checks in a fast-paced distribution workshop.

Ideal candidates will have NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent, time-served experience, and strong diagnostic/repair skills, with ability to work independently on nights.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Time-served technician experience considered.
• Experience working on DAF, Volvo, MAN and Renault vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills.
• Proactive attitude and ability to work independently on night shift.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a fleet of approximately 90 vehicles and 30 trailers.
• Carrying out fault diagnostics and identifying mechanical and electrical issues.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections.
• Completing weekly and monthly vehicle safety checks.
• Performing mechanical and electrical repairs efficiently and safely.
• Ensuring all work is completed to high maintenance and compliance standards.

Due to continued growth, we are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly motivated HGV Workshop Technician / Mechanic to join our busy and professional workshop team based in Weeford.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a thriving business operating within a fast‑paced, time‑critical distribution environment, where you will play a key role in maintaining a large modern fleet to the highest standards.

Shift Pattern

• Night shifts: Monday to Thursday
• Alternative Saturdays required

The Role

Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Servicing and maintaining a fleet of approximately 90 vehicles and 30 trailers
• Carrying out fault diagnostics and identifying mechanical and electrical issues
• Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections
• Completing weekly and monthly vehicle safety checks
• Performing mechanical and electrical repairs efficiently and safely
• Ensuring all work is completed to high maintenance and compliance standards

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a similar HGV, commercial vehicle, or heavy plant environment
• NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent qualification preferred
• Time-served technician experience considered
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills
• Experience working on DAF, Volvo, MAN and Renault vehicles
• A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently as part of a nightshift team
