Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy workshop in Leicestershire. The role involves fault finding, servicing, and repairs across a range of HGVs, trailers and specialist equipment, with a focus on hands-on diagnostics and variety.

The candidate will carry out inspections, maintenance and MOT preparation, working 47.5 hours per week, with early or late shifts and overtime opportunities. IRTEC certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' practical HGV and/or plant mechanical experience.
• Experience working across multi-brand commercial vehicles.
• IRTEC certification.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out 6-weekly vehicle and trailer inspections and servicing.
• Complete preventative maintenance and MOT preparation.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using Jaltest diagnostics.
• Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, AdBlue, ABS and electrical components.
• Diagnose and attend breakdowns by telephone, roadside and on customer sites.
• Follow company health, safety and workshop procedures.
