Amey Group Services LTD is hiring an HGV Technician/Mechanic to maintain and repair a mixed fleet including waste, sweepers and vans. You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and prepare vehicles for MOTs, with documentation via tablets and PDA.

The role emphasizes safety, COSHH awareness, and continuous upskilling in the latest vehicle technologies. Desirable certifications include City & Guilds/IRTEC/NVQ and a Cat C HGV licence.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience maintaining heavy goods vehicles to DVSA standards.
• COSHH awareness and safety compliance are essential.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills with high workmanship.
• Familiar with common municipal and waste fleet equipment.
• Desirable IOSH Working Safely and abrasive wheel training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance to DVSA standards and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic tools and perform effective repairs.
• Dismantle and overhaul vehicle components as needed.
• Maintain accurate job cards and inspections with tablets/PDA.
• Test equipment and vehicles for safe operation and road readiness.
• Follow health and safety policies and keep work areas clean.
• Respond to roadside breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in new technologies.
