Job summary

Auto Skills UK in Birmingham is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our established vehicle operation. You will service, inspect and repair HGVs and trailers, fault-find electrical/hydraulic issues, and work on braking systems and trailer equipment.

The role offers development opportunities, a structured training plan, and an emphasis on safety. You will join a skilled team and have the chance to extend your expertise across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and specialist systems.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in HGV Motor Mechanics is required.
Minimum 4 years' HGV mechanical experience.
Strong fault-finding ability and system knowledge.

Responsibilities

Carry out servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs and trailers.
Fault-find and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
Carry out trailer inspections and repairs.
Work on braking systems and perform brake testing.
Handle specialised blower trailers and related equipment.
Complete pre-LOLER inspections and welding/fabrication as needed.
Attend off-site breakdowns and maintain accurate records.
Follow safety guidelines and company procedures.
