Job summary

Russell Taylor Group Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Technician for our Reading workshop. The role involves servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles to keep them safe and roadworthy, with ongoing training and career progression opportunities.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, perform routine servicing, and complete documentation. A Level 3 heavy vehicle qualification and a UK driving licence are essential, with a competitive package and flexible shift

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI).
• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or HGV Fitter.
• Experience carrying out diagnostic work, servicing and repairs on commercial vehicles.
• Understanding of DVSA inspection requirements and DVSA standards.
• Full UK driving licence covering relevant vehicle classes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, preventive maintenance and safety inspections on HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Complete major and minor repairs to a high standard within agreed timescales.
• Identify worn or defective components in line with DVSA standards.
• Undertake wheel alignment and tyre fitting as required.
• Accurately complete job cards, service records and warranty documentation.
• Work closely with the workshop team to diagnose faults and plan repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organised working environment and follow health and safety procedures.

We are recruiting a qualified HGV Technician to join a commercial vehicle workshop in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician looking for ongoing training, career progression and a competitive package.

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and ready for the road.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance and safety inspections on HGVs.
