Contek Recruitment Solutions Ltd is hiring an HGV Technician in Puriton, near Bridgwater (Somerset). You will join an established commercial vehicle repair and transport operation supporting an in-house fleet of HGVs/LCVs and third-party vehicles.

The role involves servicing, diagnostics, and MOT preparation, with Monday–Friday hours 08:00–18:00, 47.5 paid hours per week, and overtime paid at 1.5x. Pay ranges from £18–£22 per hour, depending on experience, with a company pension and holidays.

Formación

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent is required.
• Proven experience as an HGV Technician/Mechanic.
• Experience with lorry-mounted cranes or hydraulic systems is a bonus.

Responsabilidades

• Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, maintenance and diagnostics on HGVs and LCVs.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults and complete repairs to high industry standards.
• Prepare vehicles for annual MOT tests.
• Ensure maintenance paperwork and compliance documentation are completed.

HGV Technician

Location: Puriton, Bridgwater (Somerset)

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay Rate: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour (dependent on experience) + Overtime paid at 1.5x

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified HGV Technician to join an established, expanding commercial vehicle repair and transport operation in Bridgwater. Supporting an in-house fleet of lorry-mounted cranes alongside an active client base of over 120 third-party HGVs and LCVs, this role offers steady work, modern variety, and immediate start availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, maintenance, and diagnostics on a wide range of HGVs and LCVs.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults, completing repairs efficiently to high industry standards.
• Prepare vehicles for annual MOT tests.
• Ensure all maintenance paperwork and compliance documentation are accurately completed.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent qualification) is required.
• Proven experience working as an HGV Technician/Mechanic.
• Experience with lorry-mounted cranes or specialized hydraulic systems is an advantage.
• A strong work ethic, team-oriented mindset, and reliable approach to diagnostic troubleshooting.
• Full UK Driving License (Class 1 / HGV license is beneficial but not essential).

Working Hours & Benefits

• Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00 (47.5 paid standard hours per week after deducting a 30-minute lunch break; includes a paid 20-minute mid-morning break).
• Overtime: Paid at Time-and-a-Half (1.5x) for any hours worked over 47.5 hours per week, including occasional Saturday morning shifts when required.
• Pay Rate: Competitive rate between £18.00 and £22.00 per hour (£44,460 - £54,340) negotiable based on experience and skills.
• Holidays: 20 days paid holiday plus 8 public Bank Holidays.
• Pension: Company pension scheme provided.
