Job summary

Perfect Placement is representing a franchise-approved commercial vehicle group seeking a skilled HGV Technician for their Avonmouth workshop. The role offers a 4-on/4-off shift pattern (6:30am–6:30pm) with ongoing training and development in a well-established company with a strong regional presence.

Key requirements include IMI/NVQ Level 3 in HGV maintenance, solid diagnostics ability, and a professional, team-focused attitude. A valid HGV license is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

Job description

We are exclusively recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable franchise-approved commercial vehicle group, for the position of HGV Technician at their Avonmouth site. This is a fantasticHGV Technician opportunity for skilled professionals to join an established company with a strong presence across South Wales and Southwest England.

Duties of a HGV Technician

• Perform all service and maintenance activities accurately within manufacturer time guidelines
• Provide professional and high-quality repairs, diagnostics, and safety inspections
• Support colleagues with technical queries and share best practices
• Document diagnosis results, repairs, services, and safety checks comprehensively
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and health and safety procedures
• Contribute to customer satisfaction and retention through excellent service delivery
• Support the workshop team with technical issues and innovations
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship in a busy workshop environment

Requirements of a HGV Technician

• Qualified to IMI/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
• Practical post-qualification experience is desirable
• Strong commitment to quality and team working
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex vehicle malfunctions efficiently
• Motivated individual with a professional attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet targets
• An active HGV driving license would be advantageous but is not essential
