About the role
As a Vehicle Technician in one of our workshops, you'll mostly be repairing and maintaining our fleet of delivery vehicles, ensuring they are safe and roadworthy to both VOSA and Partnership standards. You'll be working with many experienced technicians and they will ensure you have all the tools you need to succeed and excel in your role. Giving you the opportunities to develop your knowledge and progress your career.

At a glance:

Salary - The salary offered for this role is up to £44,200 and overtime when required.

Please note this role will attract a shift premium of 20% of the base rate, this is an additional earning of up to £6,300 annually.

Working Hours - This role is a full time role,37.5 hours per week as follows:

  • Sunday-Wednesday 4am-2pm

Contract type - This is a permanent role.

Based at our Waitrose Regional Distribution Workshop in Aylesford, Kent, our Vehicle Technician ensures our fleet of vehicles remain well maintained and road-worthy.

What you'll be doing

As a Technician within the team, you'll be working on our large HGV lorries. It will be your job to ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard to both VOSA and Partnership's requirements.

As well as ensuring that the relevant sections of all inspections, services and defect sheets are completed in compliance with our O' Licence obligations, and that all spares requests and time books are completed daily. You will need to be aware of best practice and current commercial vehicle repair techniques, to be able to ensure that high quality repairs are carried out in a cost effective manner and that the use of spare parts and consumables reflect the level of work carried out.

Essential Experience/Qualifications required:

  • City and Guilds Level 3 Vehicle technician or equivalent qualifications

  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence

  • A proven background in transport commercial vehicle repairs

  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness
