Job summary

We are recruiting on behalf of a National Dealership Group for an experienced HGV Technician to join their Preston team. This role offers a competitive salary, a short 3.5-day week, and clear opportunities for career progression within a well-established dealership.

You will perform maintenance and repair on heavy commercial vehicles and trailers, diagnose faults, complete relevant paperwork, and participate in ongoing training to stay up to date with heavy vehicle systems.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Experience diagnosing, servicing and repairing commercial vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence; HGV licence advantageous but not essential.
• Manufacturer training and up-to-date knowledge of heavy vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on heavy commercial vehicles and trailers.
• Diagnose faults accurately and conduct testing to ensure complete repairs.
• Complete warranty, contract and retail paperwork in line with guidelines.
• Carry out preventative maintenance to reduce customer costs.
• Support the team with additional tasks as delegated by supervisor.

Duties:

• Perform maintenance and repair activities on heavy commercial vehicles and trailers
• Diagnose faults accurately and conduct testing to ensure complete repairs
• Complete warranty, contract, and retail paperwork in line with procedural guidelines
• Carry out preventative maintenance to reduce customer costs
• Support the team with additional tasks as delegated by your supervisor

Requirements:

• City & Guilds or equivalent qualification to NVQ level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
• Experience diagnosing, servicing, and repairing commercial vehicles
• Organised with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Manufacturer training and up-to-date knowledge of heavy vehicle systems
• Full UK driving licence; HGV licence is advantageous but not essential
• Confident communicator with a professional and friendly manner
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, either independently or in a team
