Job summary

Tru Talent is hiring an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic in Portsmouth for a permanent role with day or night shifts. Earn up to £56,500 with OTE, depending on shift, experience, and overtime.

You'll service, maintain and repair HGVs, carry out diagnostics, complete inspections, MOT prep, and work to manufacturer and DVSA standards. Full UK driving licence required; Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance qualifications desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV Technician, Mechanic or Fitter.
• Proven ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on HGVs.
• Experience working with commercial vehicles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical diagnostics and fault finding.
• Complete inspections, maintenance and MOT preparation; document work.

HGV Technician - Days or Nights

Are you an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, HGV Fitter or Commercial Vehicle Technician looking for a well-paid permanent role in Portsmouth?

We are recruiting experienced HGV Technicians to join a professional commercial vehicle workshop, with a choice of day or night shifts and earning potential of up to £56,500.

Choose Your Shift

Day Shift

• Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00
• Alternate Saturdays, 08:00-12:00
• 40 hours per week

Night Shift

• Monday-Friday, 17:00-01:30
• 40 hours per week

The Role

As an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic, you will:

• Service, maintain and repair HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Carry out mechanical and electrical diagnostics
• Diagnose and repair vehicle faults and defects
• Complete inspections and preventative maintenance
• Carry out MOT preparation and rectification work
• Complete job cards and workshop documentation
• Work to manufacturer and DVSA standards
• Maintain high standards of safety and workmanship

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or HGV Fitter
• Strong mechanical, diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Experience working on HGVs or commercial vehicles
• Full UK driving licence
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance qualification desirable
• HGV Class 1 or dealership experience advantageous
