Job summary

Commercial Motors (Wales) Limited in Newport is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to service and repair a range of vehicles, including refuse trucks. You will work in a dedicated workshop, with specialist training provided to support asset maintenance.

The role offers a competitive salary (£41,080 per year) and a strong benefits package, including pension, paid leave, and health and wellbeing programs. Monday–Friday with day and evening shifts. Training and career progression are supported.

Qualifications

• Experience as HGV Technician/Engineer/Mechanic (essential).
• HGV technical qualification preferred but time-served experience considered.
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine inspection and repair of HGVs and equipment in the workshop.
• Carry out MOT inspections, repairs and prep for MOT tests.
• Attend breakdowns and complete necessary repairs to a high standard.
• Complete compliance paperwork for rental fleet maintenance.

An exciting opportunity has become available within our Newport depot and we are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join the team and help us on our journey to growth. In this role, you will be responsible for the service and repair of a wide variety of vehicles including refuse trucks. Specialist training will be provided where needed, to develop your existing skills to support our specialist assets. What candidate are we looking for?

• Experience from within a HGV Technician/ HGV Engineer/ HGV Mechanic/ Mobile HGV Technician role (essential)
• HGV Technical qualification - NVQ or City and Guilds equivalent. This is preferred but time-served experience will also be considered.
• Previous experience working with auxiliary equipment advantageous
• Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics would be advantageous
• Class 1 or Class 2 licence preferred

Excellent customer service and a g reat team player whilst also able to work on own initiative

What will be your duties?

• As the HGV Technician you will undertake routine inspection & repair of internal & external customers vehicles within the NRG workshop estate
• Working on HGVs, and equipment from manufacturers including Mercedes, Dennis Eagle, DAF, Isuzu and Terberg
• Undertake commercial vehicle MOT inspections, repair, and final preparation for MOT test
• Attend breakdowns, diagnose, and complete necessary repairs to a high standard
• Complete all compliance paperwork associated with the repair and maintenance of the rental fleet
