QUINTESSENTIAL BRANDS UK GROUP LTD is hiring a Driver / Yard Assistant for our Calne depot. You will maintain HGVs, manage yard and workshop areas, and support vehicle movement and delivery. The role requires attention to detail, reliability and adherence to health and safety standards.

Key duties include vehicle washes, cab interior valet, general workshop labour, yard cleanliness, and paperwork accuracy. BPA and PPE compliance are essential as is teamwork with front-line staff.

Qualifications

• Class 2 HGV Driving License (Essential)
• Experience in commercial vehicle / HGV workshop environment
• Municipal vehicle or equipment operation experience is preferable
• Basic mechanical knowledge is an advantage
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and take feedback
• Safety-first mindset and PPE compliance

Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle washes on chassis and bodies to inspection/MOT/hire standard
• Valet HGV cab interiors and manage cleaning materials to reduce waste
• Perform general labouring in workshop/engineering areas for safe operation
• Keep yard, car park and wash bay clean and tidy; report equipment misuse or damage
• Assist with collection and delivery of parts and vehicles as required
• Complete job cards and paperwork accurately
• Ensure work passes random quality checks by senior staff
• Utilise training to aid personal development and improve efficiency
• Collaborate with front-line team to maximise productivity and meet turnaround times

Salary: £32,358.06 + up to £3,000 bonus + excellent benefits

Monday - Friday 08:00- 17:30 with 30 minute lunch, flexible

Are you an experienced HGV Driver / Yard Assistant looking for your next challenge? We currently have a fantastic opportunity to work within our Calne depot on a permanent basis. The HGV Driver / Yard Assistant is responsible for ensuring our HGVs and specialist vehicles, yard, and workshop areas are maintained to the highest standards, alongside assisting with the movement and delivery of vehicles. In this role, you should be efficient, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively to support our front-line team. High standards of work and a commitment to quality are at the forefront of the role.

What will be your duties?

• The HGV Driver / Yard Assistant is responsible for carrying out thorough vehicle washes on chassis and bodies to a standard fit for inspection, MOT, or hire
• Valeting HGV cab interiors and ensuring all washing and cleaning materials are used efficiently to reduce waste
• Performing general labouring duties within the workshop and engineering areas to maintain a safe working environment
• Keeping the yard, car park, and wash bay areas clean and tidy, reporting any equipment misuse or damage
• Assisting with the collection and delivery of parts and vehicles as required by the business
• Completing all job cards and relevant paperwork correctly and legibly
• Ensuring all completed work meets the standards required to pass random quality checks monitored by senior members of staff
• Utilizing specialist training and requesting support to aid your personal development
• Collaborating with the front-line team to maximize productivity and ensure turnaround times are met efficient

What candidate are we looking for?

• The HGV Driver / Yard Assistant will have a background from within a similar driving or HGV fleet support role, with proven experience handling large vehicles. This could have been within a role such as Class 2 Driver / HGV Valeter / HGV Driver / Yard Assistant
• Class 2 HGV Driving License (Essential)
• Experience working in a commercial vehicle / HGV workshop environment
• Municipal vehicle or equipment operation experience is preferable
• Basic mechanical knowledge is an advantage
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including seeking and acting on performance feedback
• An understanding of confidentiality when handling business information and advice
• Strong time management with the ability to work within allotted timescales
• A safety-first mindset with a commitment to maintaining PPE and following health & safety guidelines
• Experience preparing vehicles to a standard fit for inspection, MOT, or hire purposes
• Prior experience managing and reporting defects for wash bay equipment and company tooling
• Knowledge of specialist commercial vehicle / HGV assets
