Job summary

KHR Recruitment Specialists are recruiting an experienced HGV Technician for their in-house workshop in Gillingham. You will service, repair and maintain a fleet of DAF and Mercedes HGVs to meet safety and compliance standards.

The role requires an NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance & Servicing/Repair or equivalent, plus proven mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills. PMI experience and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance & Servicing/Repair or equivalent.
• Previous experience as an HGV Technician or Mechanic.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience servicing and maintaining HGVs.
• Experience carrying out PMI work.
• Experience working on DAF and/or Mercedes vehicles would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Completing PMI (Preventative Maintenance Inspection) work.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults.
• Carrying out mechanical repairs and component replacements.
• Electrical fault finding, repairs and diagnostics.
• Working on braking, suspension, steering and transmission systems.
• Carrying out inspections and identifying potential faults.
• Maintaining and repairing vehicle engines and associated components.
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and ensuring roadworthiness.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.

KHR Recruitment Specialists are working with a well-established transport and logistics business based in Gillingham, who are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join their in-house workshop team.

You’ll be responsible for the servicing, repair and maintenance of a fleet of DAF and Mercedes HGVs, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and kept to a high standard.

• Experience servicing and maintaining HGVs
• Experience carrying out PMI work
• Experience working on DAF and/or Mercedes vehicles would be advantageous
• A proactive approach and strong attention to detail
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence would be beneficial but is not essential
