Job description

Job Title: HGV Technician

Area: South Leicester

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday - 42.50 hrs standard pw

Type: Permanent

Salary: £41,062 PA Basic, Overtime Extra

Holidays: 25 days plus Bank Holidays, increasing with years of service

Responsibilities

1. Carry out general maintenance and repair work on the company's fleet of vehicles and trailers, ensuring all vehicles are in safe working order.
2. Perform repairs to high standards, including in-depth engineering work and diagnostics.
3. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
4. Ensure all repairs comply with current Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
5. Operate relevant equipment, machinery, and tools safely, and complete all documentation accurately and promptly.

Key Skills & Knowledge

1. Hold education to City & Guilds standard in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
2. Previous experience as an HGV Mechanic is essential.
3. Preferably hold an HGV C+E licence (Class 1) and a current ADR, but these are not mandatory.
4. Strong knowledge of vehicles, trailers, workshop equipment, with troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
5. Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and demonstrate fault-finding skills.
6. Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
