Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to keep our fleet safe, compliant, and road-ready in a well-run workshop.

You will diagnose faults, perform high-quality diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs using the latest tools while adhering to DVSA and manufacturer standards. The role offers a 4on 4off schedule, 06:00–18:30 shifts, and a competitive hourly rate (£23.00), with overtime paid at £34.50 per hour plus standby and call-out bonuses.

Qualifications

• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent.
• Diagnostic qualifications and experience desirable.
• A valid Class 1 licence is desirable; training and support can be provided to obtain this if required.
• Competent in the use of hand tools and power tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on vehicles and trailers using the latest diagnostic tools.
• Service and maintain vehicles and trailers in line with DVSA and manufacturer standards.
• Complete all legal and compliance documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
• Follow best practice when carrying out repairs, component replacements, and final sign-off.
• Conduct Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) to DVSA standards.
• Work collaboratively within a professional workshop team to meet operational targets.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised working environment.
• Comply with all relevant Health & Safety regulations and industry legislation at all times.

Requirements:

• Diagnostic qualifications and experience are desirable.
• A valid Class 1 licence is desirable; training and support can be provided to obtain this if required.
• Competent in the use of hand tools and power tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
