Job summary

James Lewis Recruitment in Croydon is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to diagnose, repair and service heavy goods vehicles to high standards. The role offers a permanent contract with early and late shifts, providing job stability and opportunities for ongoing training within a supportive team.

The successful candidate will have time-served status, strong diagnostic abilities, and a valid driving licence, with experience in truck maintenance and industry developments.

Qualifications

• Time-served HGV Technician or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 preferred).
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Extensive experience in repairing and maintaining trucks, components and related vehicles.
• Familiarity with developments in the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose issues quickly and accurately using diagnostic tools and select appropriate repair techniques.
• Work independently to maintain and repair vehicles and components.
• Carry out inspections (MOT, tachograph, etc.) as required.
• Provide support and guidance to less experienced technicians.
• Perform final checks on completed repairs and services.

Job description

Job Title: HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter
Salary: £26ph
Shift: Monday to Friday 0600hrs to 1430hrs/1430hrs to 2300hrs
Type: Permanent
Location: Croydon

Job Responsibilities

• You'll be responsible for fast and accurate diagnoses using diagnostic tools and for choosing the right repair techniques.
• You’ll work independently to maintain and repair vehicles and components.
• You’ll carry out a range of inspections (MOT, tacho, etc.).
• You’ll provide support and daily mentoring for less experienced technicians.
• You’ll carry out final checks on work that has been completed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Time-served HGV Technician or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 preferred)
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• An extensive experience in carrying out repairs and maintenance on trucks, components and associated vehicles.
