Job summary

James Lewis Recruitment is seeking a time-served HGV Technician for a permanent role in Milton Keynes. You will diagnose and repair trucks, carry out inspections, and maintain vehicles to high standards across the workshop.

The ideal candidate holds City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3, demonstrates strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, and possesses a valid driving licence. The position operates a Mon-Fri shift with alternating mornings and afternoons.

Qualifications

• Time-served HGV Technician or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 preferred).
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Extensive experience in repairs and maintenance on trucks and components.
• Familiarization with developments in the automotive industry.
• Valid Driving License.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair trucks using diagnostic tools and select repair techniques.
• Work independently to maintain and repair vehicles and components.
• Carry out inspections (MOT, tachographs, etc.).
• Provide support and mentoring for less experienced technicians.
• Carry out final checks on completed work.

Overview

Job Title: HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter

Location: Milton Keynes

Type: Permanent

Salary: £20ph

Shift: Mon-Fri alternating week of 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00

Responsibilities

• You'll be responsible for fast and accurate diagnoses using diagnostic tools and for choosing the right repair techniques.
• You'll work independently to maintain and repair vehicles and components.
• You'll carry out a range of inspections (MOT, tacho, etc.).
• You'll provide support and daily mentoring for less experienced technicians.
• You'll carry out final checks on work that has been completed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Time-served HGV Technician or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 preferred)
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• An extensive experience in carrying out repairs and maintenance on trucks, components and associated vehicles.
