Job summary

HGV Technician role in Gloucestershire is inviting applicants to join a busy workshop handling servicing, repairs and fault diagnosis. The position contributes to vehicle availability and roadworthiness, supporting a fleet maintenance operation in a leading waste management and recycling business.

Applicants should have a strong heavy-vehicle background, with qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3, or substantial relevant experience, plus a Class 2 HGV licence and tachograph card

Qualifications

• Experience as HGV Technician with heavy vehicle maintenance.
• HGV maintenance qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing, repairs and fault diagnosis on HGVs.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT tests and complete warranty work where required.
• Identify and report defects, maintain accurate job records and service documentation.
• Follow health and safety procedures, use PPE and report incidents.
• Support apprentices and colleagues, with occasional roadside assistance and cover at other sites.

• Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:30pm, plus alternate Saturdays, 7:00am - 11:30am

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy workshop team, carrying out servicing, repairs and fault diagnosis to maximise vehicle availability and minimise downtime.

This HGV Technician job will suit:

• An experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Vehicle Technician with a strong background in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Someone with an HGV maintenance qualification, such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience.
• A technically capable individual with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ideally holding a Class 2 HGV licence and digital tachograph card.
• A reliable, safety-conscious team player who can work independently, solve problems and support apprentices where required.

This HGV Technician job will involve:

• Carrying out inspections, servicing, repairs and fault diagnosis on HGVs and associated vehicle systems.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT tests and completing warranty work where required.
• Identifying and reporting defects, maintaining accurate job records and completing relevant service documentation.
• Following health and safety procedures, using the correct PPE and reporting any incidents or near misses.
• Supporting apprentices and colleagues, with occasional roadside assistance and cover at other sites when required.
