Job summary

Pertemps Lincoln is recruiting experienced Shunter Drivers for an on-site role in Newark. You will operate a tug/shunter to move trailers around a busy yard, position them at loading bays and keep the area safe and orderly.

The job emphasizes professional, safety-focused conduct, with 12-hour day or night shifts and regular ongoing work. Class 1 or Class 2 licences are required, with prior HGV driving experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a valid Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) HGV licence.
• Previous HGV driving experience.
• A good understanding of vehicle and trailer safety.
• The ability to carry out basic vehicle checks.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers around the site using a tug/shunter vehicle.
• Position trailers onto loading and unloading bays.
• Move empty and loaded trailers to designated areas.
• Carry out trailer movements as instructed by the transport or yard team.
• Couple and uncouple trailers where required.
• Complete necessary vehicle and trailer safety checks.
• Report any defects, damage or safety issues immediately.
