Job summary

Ignition Driver Recruitment is seeking reliable HGV Class 1 Shunter Drivers to join our team in Hinckley with our client, one of the UK’s largest parcel distribution companies. You will operate a Class 1 vehicle, move trailers, handle route paperwork, and perform pre- and post-route checks.

Applicants should have at least 12 months of commercial driving experience, a valid UK DCPC, and a Digi-tacho card. Some licence points may be accepted; working time rules apply.

Qualifications

• 12 months commercial driving is essential.
• UK DCPC card and a valid Digi-tacho card required.
• Up to 6 points on licence may be accepted, DD/TT/DR/CD/IN endorsements not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Class 1 vehicle.
• Move trailers and tug units safely.
• Complete standard route paperwork.
• Carry out pre- and post-route vehicle checks.

Job Title: HGV Class 1 Shunter

Location: Hinckley

Pay Rate: £18.26 to £21.85 per hour

OT after 45 hours £27.39 - £32.78

Shifts: Various shifts available - Monday to Sunday or the option of 4 on 4 off; 8, 10 or 12 hours

Driver Type: Class 1 (C+E)

Experience: 12 months commercial driving = essential

HGV Class 1 Driver - The role & responsibilities

• Driving a Class 1 vehicle
• Moving trailers and tug units safely
• Standard route paperwork
• Pre & post route vehicle checks

About you

You will have your Class 1 Driving Licence and at least 12 months experience in commercial driving. You must also have your UK DCPC card and a valid Digi-tacho card. Our client may accept up to 6 points on your licence, but we can not accept DD, TT, DR, CD, INendorsements. As a professional driver, you will have a good knowledge of the Working Time Directive and be able to manage your hours accordingly.

You will be a UK resident (we are unable to assist people with VISAs) and will be able to travel to and from the site for your shift.
