ANT Recruitment Ltd in Reading is seeking an HGV Service Technician to join a busy workshop. You will service and inspect heavy goods vehicles, ensuring safety and reliability while supporting customers with timely maintenance.

The role requires at least three years of hands-on HGV maintenance and a relevant technical qualification or time-served competence. Manufacturer training and a collaborative team environment support your development and career growth.

Mansioni

About the Company

We are recruiting for an established, family-run commercial vehicle business with a busy workshop operation. You will join an approachable team with experienced technical colleagues, manufacturer training and opportunities to develop your career.

The Role

We are looking for an HGV Service Technician to join an established commercial vehicle workshop in Reading. You will play a key part in keeping customers' vehicles safe, reliable and ready for work through accurate inspections, servicing and repairs. We welcome technicians who take pride in their work and want to broaden their skills through manufacturer-supported training.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and routine servicing to required quality standards
• Identify faults, assess roadworthiness, carry out repairs and prepare heavy goods vehicles for statutory tests
• Use workshop technical information, diagnostic equipment and testing procedures appropriately
• Record inspection findings, defects, parts and labour accurately, escalating safety-critical issues promptly
• Collaborate with workshop controllers, foremen and repair technicians to maintain vehicle turnaround

Skills and Experience Required

• At least three years' hands-on HGV maintenance experience
• Relevant technical qualification or demonstrable time-served competencies
• Sound knowledge of PMIs, servicing schedules, braking, suspension, steering and roadworthiness
• Motivation to develop diagnostic and repair skills beyond routine inspections

Candidate Profile

You take pride in safe, thorough servicing and accurate inspections. You are organised, work well with a busy workshop team and want to build your technical skills beyond routine maintenance.

Salary, Bonus and Full Package

We offer:

• Basic salary up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience and manufacturer certification
• Overtime paid at £28.85 per hour
• £3,000 annual shift allowance
• An additional £2,452 per annum for participation in the Saturday rota
• Performance-related bonus of up to £6,000 per annum
• Potential OTE of £58,375, including the above additions and five extra overtime hours per week when available
• A further £2,000 per annum for a relevant EV qualification, subject to proof of qualification

Total earnings depend on performance, the applicable working pattern and overtime worked.

Working Hours and Shift Arrangements

• 40 basic hours per week
• Alternating weekly shifts, Monday–Friday: 06:00–15:00 and 13:00–22:00
• One-hour unpaid lunch break on each shift
• One-in-three Saturday rota, 08:00–12:00
