Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a HGV Driver - Refuse Vehicle to support waste and recycling services. You will drive a large fleet, use in-cab technology, and help maintain service standards while leading a small team.

The role operates on a 4-day week with strong emphasis on health and safety, customer service, and community wellbeing. A Class 2 HGV licence is required along with reliable driving history.

Qualifications

• A Class 2 HGV licence and experience driving large HGVs.
• In-cab technology experience is desirable but training will be given.
• Hardworking, physically fit and healthy.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive large refuse and recycling vehicles and operate in-cab tablets daily.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment; ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Lead a small team of Refuse Collection staff and ensure service quality.
• Deliver efficient refuse and recycling collection across urban and rural areas.
