Job summary

PR Recruitment & Training Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Fitter/Plant Mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults across HGVs and trailers. You will complete inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance, attend breakdowns, and communicate repair progress clearly.

The role requires IRTEC certification, welding/fabrication skills, and knowledge of hydraulic systems and hooklift/RORO equipment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience as an HGV and/or plant mechanic.
• IRTEC certification.
• Welding/fabrication skills.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems, LOLER and hooklift (RORO) equipment.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Willing to learn and develop.
• Positive, proactive approach.
• High attention to detail.
• Team player with a desire to grow.

Responsibilities

• Complete inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair complex faults.
• Repair/replace engines, transmissions, brakes.
• Attend breakdowns - phone diagnostics, roadside and customer sites.
• Maintain accurate job sheets, inspection reports and parts records.
• Communicate clearly on repair progress, timeframes and parts needed.
• Follow all company safety procedures.
