Job summary

Ringway Jacobs is seeking an experienced HGV Operative to join our Cheshire East highways maintenance team. You will work outdoors delivering planned and reactive maintenance across roads, footways and drainage systems.

Key duties include driving HGV vehicles (Class 2 minimum), performing maintenance tasks, and contributing to safety-focused operations. Applicants should have a valid UK driving licence with HGV entitlement and be willing to participate in out-of-hours and winter rotas.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 2 entitlement required.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Good health and safety practices.
• Able to work in a team and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate HGV vehicles (Class 2 minimum).
• Maintain highways: carriageways, footways and drainage assets.
• Assist with road repairs, reinstatements and minor construction tasks.
• Set up and manage temporary traffic management where required.
• Complete daily records and documentation.
• Follow instructions, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Report hazards, defects and safety concerns.
• Handle and dispose of waste materials appropriately.
• Support emergency and winter maintenance activities, including gritting on rota.
• Maintain high workmanship, safety and customer service standards.
