Job summary

Ringway London in Gloucestershire is seeking an Operative to carry out general maintenance works and operations, assisted by a Chargehand, on a range of routine and cyclical tasks in Gloucester.

You will respond to emergencies and call outs, including winter maintenance as required, with apprentices who have completed training, and the role includes opportunities to develop skills in risk assessment, plant operation and driving duties.

Qualifications

• General maintenance works and operations with a Chargehand
• Respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours
• Assistance with winter maintenance as second man/driver’s mate
• Apprentices who have completed training

Responsibilities

• To have and apply a wide range of generalist skills
• Understand risk assessments and assess according to safe systems of work
• Carry out work as set out in a specification
• Typically 12+ months experience
• Potential/interest in obtaining LGV licence
• Training on health & safety awareness, risk assessment awareness, traffic management, PDA usage as required
• Ability to use small plant and equipment
• Ability to operate a mini excavator
• Team-based, flexible scheduling, and willingness to take on varied highways jobs
• Complete record sheets (paper or electronic)
• Take responsibility for plant/equipment
• Use own initiative
• Ensure personal and team safety
• Available for emergency and/or winter call outs
